Benvenuto/a in ITA 112!
Ciao! 🙂
Mi chiamo Lisa Di Battista, and I’ll be your Italian instructor for the Spring semester 2026! Our classroom should be a sanctuary from the outside world. I expect all students to treat each other with equal respect and dignity and embrace the common goals of learning together and independently. I am very approachable, fair, understanding, and responsive to emails. I will do everything I can to help you succeed and earn the best grade you possibly can. You must also promise to work hard and be dedicated. Participate (it counts), and arrive on time or you’ll miss activities, announcements, and key review items. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes! We will cover a lot each week and you will need to practice and review a few times per week on your own. Review your notes, read the textbook, study the vocabulary, and be sure you understand the grammar concepts. If you need any help, see me after class (every Monday, during my office hour). Smile, breathe, and dive in! We are going to have a great semester! I’m excited to share Italian language and culture with you!
I welcome you to contact me at [email protected]; typical response time is 24 hours (weekdays).
If you wish to meet with me, come to my office in the Modern Languages Department, Carman Hall, room 277; you do not need an appointment during my office hours on Tuesdays, from 1 to 2 pm. To make an appointment at other times, email me at [email protected].
At the end of the semester, I’ll invite you to provide anonymous feedback on the course. Every feedback is highly appreciated. Further instructions about this will be given at the end of April.
